So we’re not all immortal….

My dear friend from university, Alyson Woloshyn, went into the emergency room in April with a migraine and came out with the diagnosis of a stage 4 glioblastoma brain cancer. Most people might turn into a giant puddle, but not Alyson. Instead, this master planner (she did plan AngeK Day for my 26th Birthday Bonanza), has taken on her news with the passion and drive of all her projects - this one the biggest event yet. Alyson is learning everything there is to know about her condition, and is doing everything she can to take control back away from the label of ‘cancer patient’ and focus it on Alyson Woloshyn, VIP, who happens to have a pesky brain tumor.

Alyson So what does a nutritionist do when her friend is in need? She goes to Calgary, purges her fridge and cupboards, takes her for a tour of the health food store, and stocks her freezer with items like raw nut and seed balls, broccoli cauliflower soup, as well as the recipes found below. Alyson really embraced the philosophy of feeding her body for healing that we discussed. Think about every morsel of food that is going into your body. Is it healing or harming? Right now, Alyson understands that now is the time to put everything healing into her body to help with her treatments - to aid her body’s response and to minimize any side effects of allopathic treatments.

So do we need to wait until something happens to make us change our ways? Nope. Prevention really is a lot easier and a lot less stressful. What can you change today that would assist your body’s ability to keep you healthy? Could you give up that pop, get to the gym, or add onions to your dinner? Not very big sacrifices in the grand scheme. I myself have become even more conscious of what I’m doing to my body. Please do the same.

It is so easy to stay motivated to make the right choices with the help of Align Nutrition - I come to this website all the time, and the recipes Ange left with me I use daily. I finish 6 weeks of radiation and chemo therapy on Friday and I can honestly say I feel fantastic. There is no doubt the lessons I have learned from Ange have not only allowed me to maintain a high quality of health over the last 6 weeks, I believe these lessons have allowed me to improve my health - even while having daily radiation and chemo. As Ange has said - the changes are easy when you put your mind to it. And prevention is definitely easier and less stressfull, well said Ange. You are at the right spot if you are looking for a way to start taking control of preventing disease in your life and Ange is an ideal coach to take you along the way. Thanks Ange.
